Default T-Pro VE MAP Utility

**Update 08 Aug 08**
Fixed an issue with the user-tune RPM points changing when using a custom VE table.
****

**Update 20 June 08**
A quick change to the Utility - the new VE table is now rounded appropriately to work properly with the Translator Pro.
****

Over the past few weeks I've been helping a friend tune his 3000GT VR-4. I made some developments to the VE Utility. The biggest change is the implementation of a "smoothing function" into the Utility! This lets you select from three different methods of smoothing the VE MAP, AND three levels of aggressiveness. The purpose of smoothing is to minimize large changes between cells and increase the tuning consistency.
Also both VE MAPs are now user-adjustable. Furthermore the Utility now works with Excel 2000 as well, though the coloring function does not work.
Finally all calculations are now done using VBE.

Play around with it, its pretty cool to see how the smoothing effects the VE MAP.

Make sure you enable Macros, or the utility will not work.

BTW my friends 3000GT VR-4 went 11.65 @ 122mph in Denver! It is a true street car, full weight.

To get data from the Trans to the excel sheet and vice-versa just highlight all the cells and copy-n-paste.

Bring up your the current VE Map your using in TunerPro, copy and paste to the Utility. You should be able to paste in the table at the bottom of sheet 1.
That way, if your not using a stock VE MAP (like me) then you can still use the utility.

I used the utility today and it works awesome!!! Completely reconfigured my VE map with this, uploaded it to the TPro and was perfect. Did about 35 minutes of driving aferward and was able to tweak the fuel in even better with the Uaer Tunes, now I will tranfer that over to the utility and upload the new map. This is so very helpful and will let you dial your car in very exact. Thanks and mad props ( did I just say that , yo ) to Rogue for putting this together!!!!!!!

Yeah, copy and paste. Really amazing how well it works. I really noticed an improved throttle response ( which was already real good ) after doing this and touching up a few places more with the User Tunes. Gonna upload the new User Tunes to the utility this afternoon and even further improve the fueling. Real nice set up Rogue!

How do you know where to touch up at? Is it just basically looking for peaks or valleys and smoothing them out?

Smoothing things out is one method. Though the intention of this utility is to incorporate your "User-Tunes" into the VE Table.

Default A few questions about the VE map tuning

Hello team,

After reading this post a have a few questions that came up during a discussion with friends. Here they are:

1. If you follow the instructions and tune the car with a generic map, after making adjustments to the User tune (mainscale, lo, mid, hi) the VE map should now reflect the changes...correct?

2. If we now Copy the new adjusted VE map and zero out the user tune and then we paste the new VE map over the generic one, the new map alone should be able to compensate for the "zeroing" out of the user tune...correct?
So in theory we should be able to have the car run correctly with just the new VE map (no longer needing to scale the AFM signal)...correct?

3. The above is correct, then do we now also get the benefit of having the stock timing (provided that you started with stock timing prior to adjusting the user tune)?

4. If this is not correct, then which adjustments will still remain even after pasting the new VE map?

Since I have not done this, I would like to hear from those that have.

Thanks,

Wells.

Yes

Yes the car should run similar as before with the user-tunes. However remember that any tune will scale the AFM signal

3. The above is correct, then do we now also get the benefit of having the stock timing (provided that you started with stock timing prior to adjusting the user tune)?

Ignition timing should be very similar as before with the user-tunes

4. If this is not correct, then which adjustments will still remain even after pasting the new VE map?

You need to zero out the low, mid, and high user tunes once you paste the 'new' VE Map

Since I have not done this, I would like to hear from those that have.

Thanks,

Wells.
