Default Scanmaster versions

below are the 3 basic flavors of scanmaster. Only the really old ones can't be updated. The basic determining factor is whether there is a 40 pin pattern on the circuit board. If the Scanmaster has a 24 pin chip, but there is a 40 pin pattern on the board, then it can be updated if you send it in.

The pictures are:

Can't be updated..............send it in for update...................easy to update, just plug in the chip

Question

Have a local buddy with a 40 pin Buick Scammaster 2.1 that is soldered onto the baord. (??) He also has the PL 2.2 upgrade chip.
What does it cost to upgrade?

I don't recall ever soldering the chip into a scanmaster.

But, you can send it in and I will take care of it.
